What is MedicAlert Gold?
MedicAlert Gold is a premium service that gives you the ability to consolidate all of your personal health records - directly from the source of the information (e.g. your doctor’s office), along with all of the traditional MedicAlert membership benefits (e.g. 24 hour Emergency Response Service, Family Notification Service, Emergency Wallet Cards, Personal Health Record (PHR) Summary).
With MedicAlert Gold, you can take control of ALL of your medical information, even if your medical history is scattered among physicians, insurance providers, or specialists - wherever they may be in the world.
MedicAlert Gold gives you the power to store, upload, and manage your essential medical information using our secured, US-located, Document Center. MedicAlert Gold’s personal health record management and organization system is customizable, easy to use and is accessible worldwide, 24-hours a day through the internet.
Why do I need MedicAlert Gold?
- You have the right to your own medical information! The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws were created to ensure that you have access to your medical information. In accordance with HIPAA Privacy Regulations, you have the right to obtain a copy of your personal health information (PHI) from your physicians. Once you get the information, you need to be able to manage it in a way that is convenient, yet secure. With MedicAlert Gold, you can.
- Do you know what is in your own health record? Your current physician(s) keep a paper or electronic file in their office containing your medical history, past prescriptions, lab reports, physician notes and so much more. With MedicAlert Gold, you can consolidate your information in one location so that you’re in control of your own health record.
- Do you currently have multiple doctors? Sharing your consolidated medical history and information among your physicians enable them to work together and know what each other is doing. This can help you receive better, more coordinated health care.
- How many different doctors have you had over the years? Your physicians from previous residences or insurance providers may have lab results, prescription histories, or other information that may be important to your health today. Now, you can collect that information and always have it available.

How does it work?
When you enroll in MedicAlert Gold, we create an account in the MedicAlert Document Center and give you a personal Document Center number (your “DC#”) that can receive both fax and voice messages. You then give your health care providers a document (included in your Welcome Kit) authorizing them to fax your medical records, images, test results, and other relevant information into your account, as well as leave you private voice mail messages. You can also fax health information and other personal documents to your own account. All documents that are faxed to your account are automatically converted into an electronic format (“PDF” – Portable Document Format) for easy viewing on almost any computer.
When you receive a new fax in your mailbox or someone leaves you a voice message, MedicAlert Gold will send you an email. You can log into your Gold account to view any new faxes or listen to any new voice messages right over the computer. After you receive your health records from your providers, you can arrange them into any of your 16 customizable folders for easy organization.
Once you are in your account, you can also upload information directly from your computer into the Document Center.
As always, your medical information and personal health documents are encrypted and securely stored using the highest available security standards. Only you can access your Personal Health Record (“PHR”).
What happens when I sign-up for MA Gold?

- A wallet-sized Emergency Member Card that includes crucial medical and personal contact information
- Access to your own internet-based Document Center that allows you to store and organize your faxed or uploaded personal health documents
- 24-hour Emergency Response Center - MedicAlert relays your key medical facts to emergency responders, so you receive faster, safer treatment for your medical conditions, and avoid harmful or fatal reactions
- Family Notification Service - In the event of an emergency, we will notify your family or designated contact.
