Although an individual could be allergic to any food, such as fruits, vegetables, and meats, they are not as common as the following eight foods which account for 90 percent of all food-allergic reactions: Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree nut, Fish, Shellfish, Soy, and Wheat.

Peanuts are the leading cause of severe allergic reactions, followed by shellfish, fish, tree nuts, and eggs. Food-induced anaphylaxis is believed to cause 30,000 trips to the emergency department each year.
