Emergency Call Highlights

North Carolina—A good samaritan (the member’s PE teacher) called as member experienced a seizure during her PE class. The paramedics arrived and noticed the MedicAlert emblem the member was wearing. The paramedics called us and we provided all of the members' medical information to them.

Illinois— A Chicago police officer was assisting a member found wandering. The officer requested contact info and the member’s address. MedicAlert provided his information and the member was returned home safely.

North Carolina— A member was in the hospital for scheduled surgery. The RN on duty called to obtain detail on member’s history of difficult airway intubation. A copy of the previously provided anesthesia report was successfully faxed to the RN.

Illinois—Urbana police were called to a member’s home due to a neighbor’s report of “manic behavior” by the member. The police called MedicAlert. We were able to advise them that the member has had a previous stroke and a metabolic disorder and may need medical attention.

Colorado—A Hospital Emergency Room called to obtain copy of a member’s advance directive/DNR form. We were able to fax the pertinent documents to the caller.

New Jersey—An MRI Technician called for the compatibility of a medical device and MRI. We linked the caller directly to the manufacturer of the device.

Washington—A Fire Department was called in to assist a motorist on side of road who was incoherent. They called us and we provided them his contact information.

Maryland—The Montgomery County Police found a member wandering the streets. The responding officer called in for member's information so that they could get the member home safely.

Missouri—A member was at a resturant and became unconscious. Her companion quickly called 911 and a friend there called MedicAlert. We stayed on line with the caller until the paramedics arrived. The members information was relayed to 911 once they were on the scene.

Florida—A Hospital Chaplain aided a member admitted to the trauma department. MedicAlert provided next of kin names and phone numbers.
